BREAKING: Two killed in collision after vehicle catches fire

The deceased were occupants of the sedan and over 40 people sustained injuries.

Two people died when a bus and sedan collided on R538 Road between Masoyi and White River early this morning.

The sedan caught fire on impact and over 40 people sustained injuries. Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi said the deceased were all occupants of the sedan that caught fire.

“79 passengers from the bus sustained injuries with two seriously injured. The two deceased from the sedan are males.”

Passengers were transported to Rob Ferreira and Themba hospitals.

“It is not yet clear as to what caused the accident but it is suspected that the sedan driver may have lost control due to a slippery condition on the road before colliding with the bus. The investigation into the crash is underway, said Mmusi.
