Rapist burnt with boiling water at Nyongane

A 27-year-old rapist is fighting for his dear life at the Matikwane Hospital after his ordeal went wrong in Nyongane outside Hazyview.

He is under police guard at the hospital for raping two women from Nyongane Trust.

The 27-year-old suspect was burnt with boiling water on his neck and chest while he was sleeping after allegedly raping a 22-year-old woman in her house on March 1.

According to Sgt Duduzile Malibe, this was the suspect ’s alleged second rape on the same night. “He first raped a 44-year-old woman around 01:30 in her house. He then proceeded to rape his second victim in her house. After the second ordeal, he fell asleep and that was when the victim woke up, boil water and poured it on the suspect before contacting police,” said Malibe.

This incident comes barely three weeks after two women were found dead in different areas around Masoyi. This had since fueled the community‘s anger to act against the abuse of women and children. Two marches were held last week with the third one planned for this coming Saturday from KaMajika to Hazyview police station.

Sgt Naniki Nonyane spokesperson of Masoyi Police said a case of common assault opened by two of the marchers against three men aged between 35 and 40 was withdrawn on Monday.
