According to Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi, Hawks spokesperson, the group was arrested by Members of Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit on March 8, 2019, after information was received that De Lange submitted a fraudulent cheque belonging to an orphanage in an attempt to cash R135 000.00 at the local bank in Nelspruit.

The bank staff suspected something was amiss and alerted the Hawks.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that De Lange was apparently working in cahoots with the other three accomplices who were apprehended from a vehicle that was waiting in the vicinity,” said Sekgotodi.
