Man arrested for illegal possession and processing of gold in Barberton

Members of the Hawks followed up on information about a suspect who was reportedly processing gold bearing materials in his house in Barberton.

A 44-year-old suspect was arrested by members of the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit during an intelligent driven operation conducted in Barberton on Friday.

Members of the Hawks followed up on information about a suspect who was reportedly processing gold bearing materials in his house in Barberton. The search uncovered gold and gold processing equipment and other exhibits which were seized.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Barberton Magistrate’s Court today, to face charges related to illegal possession and processing of gold.
