Community takes to the streets against crime

BUSHBUCKRIDGE – A large crowd took part in the march against crime on Tuesday, carrying placards with slogans protesting crime.

“Stop business robberies”, “Stop attacking people in worship places” and “Let’s work together against crime”, some of them read.

This comes after the community said they were the target of a slew of crimes. Most recently an armed robbery took place at a mosque.

The protest started at the mosque and peacefully moved to the police station while marchers shouted, “We want no crime”.

The president of the Pakistan South Africa Association in Mpumalanga, Asad Malik, handed a memorandum over to SAPS.

The receiving officer assured the community that the criminals will be brought to book, said Zahoor Ahmed, one of the marchers.
