“Move with the times,”- Deputy President warns politicians
He advised members to act as revolutionary agents of progressive social change and to avoid being relevant only when things go wrong.
MBOMBELA – Deputy president, David Mabuza warned political leaders to resist the temptation of stooping to the level of those who only shout slogans in an attempt to sound revolutionary without any practical solutions to the problems faced by the people.
This was on Saturday during the OR Tambo School of Leadership’s two-day induction workshop, where members of the ANC caucuses in Mpumalanga and Limpopo gathered last weekend.
Mabuza said members must be robust in holding those deployed to the executive council accountable in effectively implementing the commitment to serve the people. “There are those who will try to get your attention in your legislatures by shouting slogans. Remain focused. Represent your people out there during debates. Be superior and logical,” he warned.

He told members not to detach themselves from people who gave them an opportunity to lead for the next five years and also emphasised the importance of focusing on ideological, political, academic and moral training within the party.
“The OR Tambo School of Leadership, led by David Masondo, must be supported. There is no excuse to be ignorant or not to improve yourselves on a daily basis. It is your responsibility. Get ready to serve our people and lead by example as it is required. Do familiarise yourselves with every document and do not be lazy to read,” he said.
