KaBokweni man to appear in court for allegedly raping his daughter

It is further alleged that the father had raped the minor last December and warned her not to tell anyone.

A 37-year-old man accused of raping his 13-year-old daughter will appear for his bail application in the KaBokweni Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.

The accused, who cannot be named to protect the child’s identity, briefly appeared in the same court on charges of rape on June 9.

He was remanded in custody and the matter postponed.

The accused’s arrest comes after he allegedly raped his daughter who was visiting him at his home in Masoyi on May 29.

According to Brig Leonard Hlathi, spokesperson for the provincial police, the child told her aunt about the incidence on June 1 and the matter was then reported to the police.

It is further alleged that the father had raped the minor last December and warned her not to tell anyone.

He apparently promised to buy her a pair of Carvelas and a smartphone, which he never did.

In a separate matter, the White River police are still looking for two men who allegedly raped another 13-year-old who was walking home from buying bread at fuel station in town on June 2.

In another incident, Pienaar police opened a case of rape regarding a 15-year-old who was allegedly raped by her ex-boyfriend at Gobhoza section on June 6.
No arrest has been made so far.
