Adhering to regulations at Emoyeni and Dayizenza malls not negotiable

This was evident when Mpumalanga News visited Emoyeni Mall and Dayizenza Plaza on Monday, where the centres' managers were hard at work directing traffic.

Local shopping malls are working around the clock to ensure that the set health standards in the fight against the Covid-19 coronavirus, are adhered to.

“We have developed a ‘no mask, no entry’ policy and all the tenants are adhering to this. We have placed vinyl stickers and visible masking tape on the floor to help shoppers keep to the social distancing rule,” said Emoyeni Mall’s marketing manager, Nomfundo Zitha.

She said they have put sanitiser in place at each and every entry point.

“We understand that this is all new to our shoppers and so we have invited interested community members to set up a table at the gate to sell face masks to customers who don’t have any and want to visit the the mall. Some people are unruly and would want to force their way into Emoyeni without masks, but with the help of our security personnel we are able to deal with this,” she further explained.

Zitha pleaded with customers to always abide by the set health regulations for the safety of all shoppers.
“Importantly, we don’t allow entrance to children. We do, however, make an exception for those who come with their parents to buy clothes, but our security staff escort them to the stores and make sure they buy and leave.”

Zitha acknowledged the assistance they received from Roots Butchery which provided volunteers with breakfast and lunch, as well as sanitiser.

Dayizenza Plaza follows the same procedure where customers are monitored to adhere to social distancing rule and regular sanitisation.
The military presence also helps to keep unruly shoppers at bay, and to ensure they stick to the safety standards.
