Hawks nab unregistered Congolese doctor in Vosman
A 37-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Vosman Magistrate's Court today to faces charges of fraud and corruption.

He was arrested during a disruptive operation by members of the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team in Mpumalanga, as well as an inspector of the Health Profession Council of South Africa (HPCSA) on Friday August 13 in the Vosman policing area.
The Mpumalanga Hawks’ spokesperson, Capt Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi, said in a press statement that the team had reacted to information received about a person who was practising as a doctor without registration.

“On arrival at the premises used for his practice, the unregistered doctor was found. The receptionist confirmed he was the doctor on duty. A search was conducted, and the suspect did not have valid documentation that allowed him to practise as a doctor.
“The Congolese national was arrested for contravening Section 17(1) (a) of the Health Professions Act 56 of 1974.
The charges relates to practising as a doctor by seeing patients and issuing medicines without being registering with HPCSA,” said Sekgotodi.
