Bushbuckridge artist ready to take his talent to the next level

A talented grade 12 learner, Council Gumede of Eric Nxumalo High School in Edinburgh Village, is the next big thing in the creative industry

Council started art as a hobby three years ago.

“Drawing used to be my hobby. Whenever I am bored or lonely, I always reached out for my pencil and paper and start drawing those imaginary pictures that came to mind. Three years ago I realised this was my calling, as many started to place orders for my drawings,” he said.

“I am starting to realise my hobby could be my dream job as the country has one of the highest rates of unemployment in the world, especially among young people.

“It is all by the grace of the Lord to have such amazing talent. My wish is to own an art studio where I can teach and show other young people this art.” Council asked the community to assist in growing his business by sharing his portraits on social media so that this reaches future clients. To support him, send a WhatsApp during school hours or call him afterwards on 072 844 2890.
