Heavy storm leaves families out in the cold

Yet another heavy storm has swept through the Nkomazi subregion leaving a trail of destruction in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Currently, there are six families that have been confirmed to be severely affected by the storm.

Most of the houses had their roofs blown off, with Langeloop being the hardest hit.

One of the families badly affected, was the Ndlala family who was left out in the cold after their house collapsed.

A family member, Nonhlanhla Ndlala, said this is the second time they have experienced this.

“We are deeply affected by the storm. This is the second time now and it has destroyed our home. We are now crammed in a two room,” she said.

This storm comes just two weeks after this subregion was hit by heavy rainfall which also caused huge damage and left two people dead.

About 200 families were reportedly affected by it.

The Nkomazi Local Municipality’s spokesperson, Cyril Ripinga, confirmed that a total of 200 families had been severely affected.
