RDP beneficiary demands her house

An Ext 2 government subsidy house ((RDP)) beneficiary, Dansile Motau, has accused the Department of Human Settlements of corruption. Motau claimed that her first registered and approved (RDP) house was allocated to another beneficiary.

TEKWANE SOUTH – According to the departmental official forms, Motau was among the beneficiaries whose applications for an (RDP) house was approved in 2017 after she had applied in 2016. In the housing subsidy system list document seen by Lowvelder Express, Motau’s application status is marked as “verified” and she was allocated house number 2525, with a fully paid amount of R110 947 on November 2, 2017.

She was surprised when she went to the house and found it allocated to someone else. “I went to the department to find out what was happening and I have been given a runaround, without any straight answers. All I want is to be placed back in my house at number 2525 as it was fully paid for,” said Motau.

She also claimed that when she further probed the matter, she was told that she would be allocated a new house at stand number 2072, which has not been even built yet.

“It pains my heart to know that at house number 2525, which was allocated to me from the beginning, there is already a person staying there and unlawfully so. “I even tried to confront him and he said he was not going anywhere,” she said. The Department of Human Settlements said it was aware of the matter. Freddy Ngobe, the departmental spokesperson, said, “Dansile Motau is a beneficiary and she was approved to receive a house at Tekwane South Ext 2, stand number 2525.

“During the construction it was established that the number of captured and approved beneficiaries exceeded the allocated number of houses built and upon finalisation of the process, Motau was not on the approved list of prioritised beneficiaries to receive a house. She was put on hold on the housing subsidy system at stand number 2072, as site number 2525 was allocated to another beneficiary as per the council resolution.”
