Mpumalanga Legislature speaker hands over tablets to Qokiso Secondary School
Bushbuckridge mayor calls on stakeholders to protect school infrastructure and support initiatives for local learners.
Mpumalanga Legislature Speaker Makhosazane Masilela visited Qokiso Secondary School on Thursday, August 20, to fulfil her legacy project commitment to supply the school with tablets.
The school principal, Patrick Mdluli, expressed gratitude to Masilela for keeping her promise to provide the tablets within a month. He also assured her that the school was committing to working towards achieving a targeted 100% pass rate.

Mayor urges community to safeguard infrastructure
The executive mayor of the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality, Lydia Moroane-Zitha, applauded Masilela for her continued contribution to communities through constituency work. She encouraged stakeholders to support initiatives aimed at securing a brighter future for learners, while cautioning against vandalism and other acts that damage infrastructure and resources intended to uplift communities.
Speaker praises strong academic performance
Masilela commended the school for its outstanding academic achievements, particularly in mathematics and science. She acknowledged that these subjects are among the more challenging areas of study and emphasised the importance of sustaining a strong culture of learning.

She further encouraged the principal and the school management team to build on their achievements and continue striving for academic excellence.
The visit concluded with a tour of the school’s vegetable garden, which promotes practical learning and food sustainability.
