New shisanyama sizzles
Just two kilometres from Tekwane North, on the way to Msogwaba Trust, is a big, tall and colourful building.
PIENAAR – No, it is not Sandton City or Konka, but yes, it is rated as one of the best shisanyama and pholas joints around Nsikazi.
Spy2Sky Joint, proudly standing tall in the middle of a township, is truly in a class of its own. If you thought Umlazi’s Eyadini Lounge or Soweto’s Mzolis Corner and Tembisa’s Busy Corner were the shiz niz, think again.
Spy2Sky Joint is the real deal and is just a stone’s throw away. Officially opened early in the year, this is definitely the ideal place for those Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Owned by Ligwalagwala FM’s celebrated breakfast show host, DJ Madumane, Spy2Sky Joint is the home for entertainment, good music and delicious food. But what makes this venue unique?

“This is not just any ordinary or random hangout spot. The bigger picture here is to turn this joint into a tourist attraction destination. When the idea came about, we decided to design this place in a way that would cater for locals and tourists as well. We want people from Gauteng, KwaZuluNatal, Cape Town and all the other parts of the country to want to come and visit this joint when they are touring Mpumalanga. This is what makes this place unique,” said DJ Madumane.
“We aim to please and entertain. When we started this pozi (place) in the heart of a township such as this one, we wanted to give it the class it deserves. Our people must not always travel to Gauteng and Durban for best entertainment, fun and great shisanyama. This joint is for all, young and old.” He said he intends to turn this establishment into one of Mbombela’s hottest and hippest hangout spots.
“Honestly, there are many other great joints around, but the bigger picture with Spy2Sky Joint is to make it easily the first hangout spot people think about when they want to have fun or when tourists come to visit and want a taste of kasi (township),” he said.
