Still no leads on mother and son found murdered in Matsafeni house

The provincial police say there are still no leads in the investigation into the murder of Thando Charity Maseko (44) and her son, Siphiwe Gift Mkhonta (28).

MATSAFENI – The two were found murdered in their home on December 5.

A provincial police spokesperson, Brig Selvy Mohlala, said, “We have not arrested any suspects. We are still busy with investigations and we urge anyone with information on this murder case to contact the police.” According to the police report, they were informed of a bad odour emanating from a certain house.

“When the members arrived at the house they found the door closed but unlocked, and discovered the body of a 44-year-old woman on the ground with a bed on top of her. “The victim’s head was covered with a plastic bag and she had visible wounds on her shoulder.”

The neighbours further informed the police that the woman was residing with her son and that they both had last been seen on Thursday December 2.

“The body of a 28-year-old man, believed to be the woman’s son, was found in the garage with stab wounds.” The police urged anyone with information that may assist in tracing the suspect(s) to call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or send information via the My SAPS app. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.
