School rewards top-performing learners

Only a few days after the official announcement of the 2021 matric results in the province, the KaBokweni based Vulindlela High School awarded and recognised its best-performing matric learners in fine style.
This school made history by scooping the second spot in the results within the Nsikazi District. This awards ceremony saw Macbeth Attorneys ploughing back by donating much-needed tools for studying such as laptops, cellphones, modems for internet connection and data to all the learners who performed well and are heading to various tertiary institutions. Speaking during the ceremony, the main sponsor, Macbeth Ncongwane, said he and his company have been helping learners from this area since 2004 with fees and other critical study tools to make their lives easier in varsities.
“After finishing my articles in 2004, I wanted to continue my mother’s legacy, as she used to help many students from this area with their tertiary needs, so I also decided to identify a school that I would also help.“This dream was born and we have been helping students and this school in terms of making sure that the wishes of the children of furthering their studies are realised,” said Ncongwane.

He said he had decided to become involved after seeing a lot of locals dropping out of tertiary institutions because of the lack of resources and funds. “It was difficult back in the day because the province didn’t have its own university and local students had to travel far for further education. This situation became strenuous, especially to those coming from disadvantaged family backgrounds. “Ours is to ensure that there’s no financial burden for these students. I am happy that a lot of them are getting help and in turn are helping many others.

The vision is to get more people educated, because this will get rid of many social ills we are experiencing right now,” continued Ncongwane. “We want to extend this vision and help those who are coming back from universities with job placement and some experience, so that they don’t come back and wait in the unemployment queue,” he concluded
