EFF’s target: one million members
Already planning for the 2024 national elections, the EFF has embarked on a campaign to increase its membership by one million by the end of the year.
MBOMBELA – The party celebrates its ninth anniversary this year and its provincial leader, Collen Sedibe, believes this province will significantly contribute towards the party’s membership growth.
Before the 2021 local government elections, the EFF in Mpumalanga stood at over 40 000 members, a number which Sedibe hopes to triple by 2024.
Addressing throngs of EFF members on Friday during the official launch of this million membership campaign held at the Mbombela Park next to the ANC’s headquarters, the January Che Masilela building, the party’s member of parliament and member of the Central Command Team, Dr Suzan Thembekwayo, called members to roll up their sleeves and start recruiting new members into their organisation.

“We seriously and desperately need to start with our recruitment drive. We must start now so that we reach our one-million mark by December,” Thembekwayo said. She also said that the EFF is now ready to govern the country and most of the provinces. She said the ruling party has failed to deliver basic services, especially in rural and previously disadvantaged communities.
“As an organisation, we have noticed the lack of service delivery in our communities under the current ruling party. Our people are still without water, electricity, housing and employment, and these are the basic needs for our people and communities. When it is our turn to govern, we must always ensure that we put the people first,” she said.
