The University of Mpumalanga honours its top-performing student
The university honoured all achieving and top-performing students in different faculties on the prestigious night of awards, in different categories.

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) recently held an academic excellence awards in its multipurpose hall to recognise and honour the academic achievements of its top-performing students.
The Keni Foundation Academic Excellence Awards was among these.
Ndivho Willy Tshivhula, a top student of information communication and technology (ICT) applications development, was honoured as the winner of the Keni Foundation Academic Excellence Award in ICT.

Tshivhula received a R20 000 award fund from the Keni Foundation and an internship at Gijima, which is owned by Robert Gumede.
Tshivhula was very excited and expressed his gratitude.
“I feel blessed and favoured by God and ready to accomplish meaningful and important goals, which will change how the world views technology. I am now optimistic to tackle any challenges that the world may bring to my doorstep.
“I am both overwhelmed and thrilled to have received these awards and the internship in a country with such a high unemployment rate. This has to be the most incredible opportunity I have ever had.

“This is my chance to learn from experts in the technological field, and this is my time to get my hands on deck. Thank you to the Keni Foundation and the Gijima Company for providing me with such a wonderful opportunity and for believing in me.”
He also said that he plans to redefine Africa’s technology to a full-scale teach-ready continent.
“I wish to bring forward autonomous systems that will modify Africa’s technology and I aim to be one of the few software engineers to create and design the best application systems to come out of South Africa.”
