Farming projects in Mpumalanga explored by delegation

A Northern Cape delegation visited various projects.

A two-day visit by a delegation from the Northern Cape Department of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development and Land Reform to Mpumalanga has been hailed as a great success.

Delegation officials came to explore and benchmark the implementation of the Fortune 40 Young Farmer Incubation Programme on June 1 and 2.

They toured the Boschrand F40 aquaculture project in Mbombela and the Barberton Fortune 40 vegetable project on Wednesday June 1.

Today, June 2, they visited the Daggakraal F40 piggery and tunnels project in the Dr Pixley ka-Isaka Seme Local Municipality, and the Elandspruit F40 livestock and vegetable project in the Nkangala District.

The Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs’ (Dardlea) spokesperson, Zanele Shabangu, said based on the presentations and discussions by the delegation and F40 beneficiaries, there is no doubt they will take home some valuable experiences.

“They also obtained lessons on the incubation model.”
“They commended Dardlea for the programme, saying lessons learned during the visit will assist them when they implement their provincial incubation programme.”
