Mpumalanga karatekas bring medals home from Arnold Classic Africa

The Mpumalanga flag was raised high by TAGB Taekwando International's karatekas.

Twenty-one competitors of TAGB Taekwondo International in Mpumalanga showed their exhibiting excellence during the Arnold Classic Africa Multisport in Roodepoort on Friday to Sunday June 3 to 5 at the Ruimsig Stadium. Fifteen of them brought medals home after the event.

Martial artists from all over South Africa took part in this massive sports festival.

The competitors were accompanied by Master Job Magagula, the head of TAGB Taekwondo International in Africa, fifth-degree blackbelt of TAGB Taekwondo International, and fifth-degree blackbelt of the American Iron Dragon Organisation, as well as Master Conwel Mkhonto, a third-degree blackbelt, Master Lesang Dingalo, a first-degree blackbelt, and Master Walter Botha, a fourth-degree blackbelt.

Ntsikayethu Ngwenya won three gold medals and Lukhanyo Qotho a bronze medal.

Magagula said they are looking forward to bringing more medals home from the next competition.
“We are very happy with this achievement. Our team showed great strength and their hard work paid off. We are looking forward to bringing more medals from the South African-Korean Martial Arts National Championship on Saturday and Sunday August 6 and 7 at Wits University.

Gideon van Rooyen won a gold and bronze medal.

“Exhibitions and competitions like this help spread martial arts all around the country and helps bring diversity. Our great aim is to promote TAGB Taekwondo International as a sports and martial arts icon in our communities,” said Magagula.
