MEC Vusi Mkhatshwa visits informal business stalls owners at a taxi rank in Middelburg

Some vendors were happy to see the MEC and shared breakfast with him.

The Mpumalanga MEC for economic development and tourism, Vusi Mkhatshwa, conducted a walkabout at the Iraq Taxi Rank in Middelburg this morning, May 7.

He was accompanied by the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality mayor, Petrus Masilela, and they had the opportunity to meet some of the informal business owners.

The walkabout was a first of events of the Informal Economy Indaba currently under way at Steve Tshwete Banquet Hall.

Community members and informal business owners gathered to hear and learn more about how to grow their businesses from presentations done by governmental organisations.

Government officials from local municipalities are also present at the indaba to support the initiative.
