The City of Mbombela (CoM) has announced that the following areas are now permitted firework displays over the New Year period:

• Mbombela Stadium
• Mataffin Sports Grounds
• KaMagugu Stadium
• KaNyamazane Stadium
• Matsulu Stadium
• Matsulu Sports Grounds
• KaBokweni Stadium
• Barberton Rugby Stadium
• Nelsville Sports Grounds
• Masoyi Sports Grounds.

In a press release, the general manager of CoM’s community services, Sl Sihlangu, said in areas not mentioned above, citizens are requested to use sports grounds and other open parks available in their areas.

In terms of fire brigade by-laws, no other areas other than those mentioned above are allowed fireworks, unless there is a special arrangement made with the chief fire officer who can be reached on 013 759 0121.
