Missing SANDF soldier: Search continues near Komatipoort

It has been three days since two SANDF soldiers went missing in floodwaters near Komatipoort, with search efforts continuing as one man remains unaccounted for.

It has been three days since a South African National Defence Force (SANDF) soldier went missing while on duty in Macadamia near Komatipoort.

The Ehlanzeni Diving Unit will resume search operations today, December 28. The vehicle was recovered yesterday, and an EMS helicopter has been deployed to assist with the search.

On December 25, two SANDF soldiers were swept away from their vehicle after attempting to cross the heavily flooded Nkomazi River. One soldier’s body has since been recovered, while the other remains missing.
