Mpumalanga MEC mourns traffic officer killed in Malalane crash

The MEC for community safety, security and liaison, Jackie Macie, has called on traffic officers to remain committed to their duties following the death of colleague Sifiso Lubisi in a crash near Malalane.

The MEC for community safety, security and liaison, Jackie Macie, has extended heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Sifiso Andries Lubisi (39), a traffic law-enforcement officer who died in an accident on the N4 near Malalane on May 15.

“This is a dark moment for law enforcement. It is especially painful because traffic officers put their lives on the line daily to prevent deadly crashes, only for some to lose their lives on the road,” said Macie.
The crash occurred when a state-owned vehicle carrying Lubisi and two colleagues was involved in a side-swipe collision with an Audi SUV. After the initial impact, the vehicle lost control and was struck again by a truck travelling in the same direction.
