Two Mzinti entrepreneurs win mobile kitchens from Coca-Cola

The competition was aimed at raising the township's economy and changing the lives of young entrepreneurs.

It was an extraordinary day for Sphiwe Nkosi of Tit for Tat and Jacob Silinda of Jacobs Kitchen from Nkomazi, when they won themselves each a mobile kitchen from Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) on Saturday July 30 in Mzinti.

The handover, hosted at Ebukhosini Resort, was nothing short of jubilant after the two entrepreneurs were announced the winners of the day.

According to CCBSA, the competition, which ran in June, was to commemorate Youth Month and was aimed at people between 18 and 35.

Nombuso Moiloa, corporate social investment specialist of CCBSA, said the initiative was created to transform aspirant entrepreneurs into fully fledged business people who can build businesses, create jobs, and provide a livelihood for themselves and others.

“Our aim at CCBSA is doing business the right way, and part of this is addressing challenges faced by the young people in our country. We have a number of youth empowerment programmes, and one of them is Bizniz in a Box. This business is dedicated to uplifting the township economy. We are proud to have run the mobile kitchen competition, which has now changed the lives of two young entrepreneurs in the community of Nkomazi,” said Moiloa.

One of the winners, Nkosi, who runs Tit for Tat, a fast-food outlet, said her business was established during hard lockdown in 2020 and things were difficult, but after winning this kitchen, it will enable her to grow and work flexibly.

“I started shooting food content during lockdown and realised there was an opportunity to start an official business from that. I am so happy to have won this kitchen, as this will enable me to move around with my orders, and I know that I will grow from this,” she said.
