Two security guards injured in CIT heist crossfire near Hazyview

A CIT heist took place on the R40 between Hazyview and White River earlier this evening, December 15.

Two security guards were shot during a cash-in-transit (CIT) heist just outside Hazyview this evening, December 15.

Emer-G-Med’s Martin Jeffrey said the injured guards had not been occupants of the CIT vehicle, but were thought to have passing by the scene on their way to another destination when the bullets from a shoot-out between the occupants of the targeted vehicle and the suspects ensued.

He said one of the guards was shot in the hand and the other in the back.

Jeffrey said the guards were transported to a nearby hospital in a stable condition.

The R40 between Hazyview and White River is currently closed. The police and necessary authorities are on the scene.
