MEC for health monitors health care services in Standerton

The Mpumalanga MEC for Health, Sasekani Manzini arrived unannounced at these health facilities in Standerton at Lekwa Local Municipality.

The MEC for health, Sasekani Manzini, visited Lekwa Local Municipality to monitor the provision health care services on Monday January 17.

She visited Standerton Hospital and Stanwest Clinic to interact with some officials, patients and organised labour regarding the provision of services.

During her visit, Manzini said she was pleased to discover that out of the seven health facilities in the area, five are certified as ideal. This year Standerton Hospital will be celebrating its 100 years of existence and delivering health services to the community.

“This hospital received good results in a preliminary report from the Office of Health Standards. Casualty was expanded, there are two new lifts, a new pharmacy, mini laundry and the renovation of the paediatric ward, are among the infrastructural changes achieved. In addition, I am happy about the improvement on maternal mortality. For the past 13 months no such deaths have been reported.”
