Gert Sibande District hosts career exhibition week

The aim of the exhibition was for learners to have the opportunity to explore different career paths in agriculture.

The Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs (Dardlea) recently took part in a week-long career exhibition hosted by Gert Sibande District Municipality.

The aim was to give learners the opportunity to explore different career paths, connecting their learning stages to the real world and obtaining guidance on opportunities offered by different government and private institutions, including accessible bursary schemes.
The exhibition targeted Grades 11 and 12 from high schools within the Msukaligwa Local Municipality.

“Other departments within human resource development, veterinary services, soil lab and geographic information systems officials captured the attention and interest of the learners with presentations on scarce skills agricultural careers such as veterinary science, environmental studies, animal health, aquaculture, agricultural engineering, pasture science and soil science,” said Dardlea’s spokesperson, Zanele Shabangu.
