Masoyi’s Game Lifestyle Awards recognise excellence

The main purpose of the awards was to recognise people who are making a difference in the Masoyi area by changing the perception that the area is a crime hotspot.

It was a night of glamour and elegance at the Game Lifestyle Awards held at Dayizenza Mall in Mahushu on October 2. It not only provided an excellent opportunity for guests to dress up, but also recognised those who make a positive difference in their communities.

The main purpose of the awards was to recognise locals enhancing their communities and also to change the negative perception that Masoyi is only known for its crime.

The founder of the awards, Tumelo Nkuna, said this annual event recognises people from grassroots, whether they own thriving businesses or are only hustlers. For once, taxi drivers who are usually taken for granted and branded as road hogs, received positive reinforcement for ensuring commuters reach their destinations on a daily basis.

“We also recognise the shisanyama owners, local designers, musicians and beauty salons, because we are aware that most of them have created much-needed employment for locals. I also want to change the perception that our area is a den of criminal activity. We are hoping that these awards will make a positive impact in our community,” he said.

Nkuna further called on local businesses to support this initiative for the role they plays in the community they are operating in. He also thanked the nominees and voters because they ensured the event’s success. “I would also like to thank all the sponsors and the people who supported us. Congratulations to all the winners. I believe they will continue to make a difference in their respective communities.
