Miss Hazyview 2024 proud to be a winner

According to the new queen, winning the competition has opened many doors for her. She promised to give back to her community by participating in various community projects.

Mbali Silawu (18) is the new Miss Hazyview 2024. She was crowned at a prestigious event held at Hasana Church on October 28.

Silawu, from College View in Bushbuckridge, convinced the judges that she has the beauty and brains to wear the crown.

Talking to Hazyview Herald after being crowned, she said, “I am absolutely happy and proud after winning Miss Hazyview 2024. My future plans are filled with aspirations to become a multifaceted individual. I am aiming to be a motivational speaker, an entrepreneur, a youth empowerment and entrepreneurship mentor, and an activist, while pursuing a career in law. I firmly believe that the sky’s the limit and that I can achieve anything I set my mind to. I know I will make it.”

Silawu said that winning the competition has opened many doors for her in the beauty pageant industry. She promised to serve her community and would to be involved in various community projects.

The organiser of the event, Billy Brown, has welcomed Silawu as the new queen and said he was looking forward to working with her in 2024, during which her main focus will be on community outreaches and making a difference in the lives of young girls.

“The competition is a platform allowing young women to grow in confidence, discover themselves and their strengths and be encouraged to become socially conscious members of their communities. Our main aim for the pageant is to drive community upliftment projects, social cohesion, volunteerism and male and female empowerment,” he said.

Silawu will be working hand in hand with Palesa Malele, the first runner-up and Success Mlambo, the second princess.
