Two suspects arrested for truck-jacking near Marite

The duo is facing charges stemming from seven incidents of armed robberies, of which some are related to the hijacking of delivery trucks on the R40 near Marite.

The Calcutta SAPS arrested two suspects who are allegedly behind several truck-jacking incidents on the R40 near Marite. They are also suspected to be involved in other robberies previously committed in the Calcutta area.

According to a provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, the police were tracing the suspects on December 20 for the reported robbery cases in this area.

“The investigation led them to an abandoned house in Marite outside Hazyview. Two suspects were apprehended and later charged. The two are facing a total of about seven incidents of armed robberies, of which some are related to the hijacking of delivery trucks on the R40, committed in November and December,” he said.

Mohlala added that Keabeletswe Mohlala (20) and Thulani Ngutshane (26) appeared in Mkhuhlu Magistrate’s Court, and that the matter was postponed to December 27 for a formal bail application. Meanwhile, the two remain in custody.
