CPF members march to Schoemansdal Police Station with demands

Some of the CPF members’ demands include that a station commander be employed full-time and that two officers be moved to other stations.

Some community policing forum (CPF) members from the western part of Nkomazi marched to the Schoemansdal Police Station to submit a memorandum of demands on Thursday February 1.

The CPF members from Magogeni, Middelplaas, Jeppes, Driekoppies, Schoemansdal, Bhevula and Aniva demanded that the station be extended because of the population growth, and that the station commander be employed full-time.

“The villages in question have grown immensely over the past years, and the station is no longer able to curb the crime activities in the area. The station commander has also been acting for some time now. We demand that he gets appointed full-time with immediate effect. We also call for two police officers to be relocated to other stations, because they are corrupt and enabling crime in the area. The station should hire more police reserves and Criminal Investigation Department officers, because the crime level is now unbearable,” said Vincent Khoza, the chairperson of the Schoemansdal CPF.

He further added that they demand that the police stations in the area work closely with their respective CPF members. “We have had a number of instances in which it seemed like the police were not working in support of the CPFs, and that has to come to an end. The fact that there are police officers who work with the criminals and give them classified information is already a big red flag. We also demand that the station should add more vehicles, including one for the CPF. We want a relaunch of the CPF in the area,” Khoza said.

The police had not officially commented on this matter by the time of publishing, as they wanted to address the CPF directly first.
