Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature speaker visits school in Mashishing

The visit formed part of the speaker’s Legacy Project to uplift underprivileged communities in Mpumalanga.

The Speaker’s Legacy Project, headed by the speaker of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature, Makhosazane Masilela, brought hope to a number of learners of Kellysville Primary School in Mahishing.

She handed over school uniforms, school shoes and sanitary towels to the learners on Monday March 18.

“The project is aimed at restoring the dignity of all learners, especially those coming from underprivileged families. The school programme has and continues to positively impact many learners across Mpumalanga,” she said.

The principal, Beauty Johnson, said appreciated the initiative. “Kellysville Primary School is surrounded by squatter camps which depicts the need for basic items like school uniforms and sanitary towels. We thank the speaker for the gesture at it will go a long way in confirming a child in school, therefore securing their future.”

The initiative was supported by the councillor of Ward 5, Annah Rankwe, and the speaker of the Thaba Chweu Local Municipality, Cllr Herence Trower.
