Two passengers killed in motor vehicle accident on R40 close to Mbombela

The drivers of both vehicles were treated for injuries by various emergency medical services.

Two people were killed in a collision between a light delivery vehicle and light motor vehicle on the R40, at the Kaapsehoop intersection oustide Mbombela, at 18:30 on Wednesday March 20.

According to the spokesperson of the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Moeti Mmusi, the two deceased were passengers from either vehicle.

“Both the drivers sustained injuries and were transported to hospital by the emergency medical services that attended the scene.”

Mmusi said the road was closed in both directions for almost two hours.
