City of Mbombela mayor unveils new projects for Masoyi communities

Sibongile Makushe-Mazibuko said the service delivery drive is continuous and will benefit more communities within the local municipality.

The City of Mbombela’s (CoM) executive mayor, Cllr Sibongile Makushe-Mazibuko, handed over three completed community projects, including two footbridges and a community hall, to service community members near Masoyi on Tuesday April 23

She unveiled a 23m-long footbridge and a state-of-the-art community hall in Jerusalem and another footbridge of 52.6m in Mganduzweni.

During the handover, Makushe-Mazibuko said the projects emanate from the service delivery enhancement programme that she started last year during her mayoral imbizo. “The imbizo enhanced service delivery enormously, and as a result, the CoM is ready to hand over quite a number of projects from April until the midyear.

“The bridges have brought so much relief to the children who had to brace crossing streams during the rainy season and risking their lives as a result of imminent snakebites in the bushes on their way to school. Especially the pedestrian bridge in Jerusalem has addressed the challenge of the temporary slippery wooden bridge installed by community members to mitigate the challenge of crossing the flooding stream during heavy rains. The hall has a capacity of 600 people and will enable the community to hold meetings and events effectively.”
