Amapiano enthusiast Skeemray excited about his vibey new song

This award-winning musician from KaBokweni released his song, "Ngjabulile", on June 1, and said he hopes it becomes a hit in the local music industry.

Raymond Mbede from KaBokweni, a multi-award-winning amapiano musician known as ‘Skeemray’, has a song titled “Ngjabulile” that was released on June 1. It features other local musicians, Mr Chillax and Ngwana On It.

“The song is about choosing to be in a happy place or relationship. It aims to encourage people to move on from toxic relationships and partners.” He said he hopes the song becomes a hit and attracts gigs for him.

Mbede is no stranger in the local music industry. “I am best known for my hit single ‘Sukuma mkami’, which also got airplay on Ligwalagwala FM, and its video aired on well-known music channels such as DStv’s Channel O and MTV Base.”

In 2022, he released his first EP, Promise Land, and features local artists such as Gugu Ice, Sbudakeira and Mr Chillax. It is produced by the widely known producer Phakza.

“In the same year, I formed a duo with a music creative, Mpumelelo Mkholo, also known as Mpumi, and we became Skeemray & Mpumi. In 2019, we released a song, ‘Sing and dance’. We really enjoyed making music together while also building our solo brands. More singles were released, such as ‘Queen of the Weekend’ and ‘K’sazoba mnandi’.”

In his quest to become a shining star, Mbede became a multi-award-winning local musician when he received an award at the Game Lifestyle Awards for Best Produced Song for his single, “Thembalami” in 2022. In 2023, he bagged an award at the Mpumalanga Music Awards for Best Amapiano Song for the song “Abafana”, which features Gugu Ice.
