Mpumalanga MEC for sports congratulates Sipho Makhabane for his award

This legendary musician recently received the South African Music Awards' Lifetime Achievement Award.

The MEC for culture, sport and recreation, Leah Mabuza, has congratulated Sipho ‘Big Fish’ Makhabane for receiving the South African Music Awards’ (Samas) Lifetime Achievement Award at the Gallagher Estate in Midrand on November 2.

“This is a proud moment, particularly for the people of Mpumalanga. This prestigious recognition is a testament to the extraordinary talent, dedication and impact Makhabane has on the gospel music landscape in South Africa and beyond,” said Mabuza.

Makhabane, who hails from Mpumalanga, has been in the music industry for over 30 years. He has released numerous gospel albums and has been credited for discovering and giving opportunity to new talent.
