Driver sustains serious injuries on N4 near Mara

The Jaws of Life was used to free the vehicle driver who had been trapped in his sedan.

One driver sustained serious injuries in an accident that involved an articulated truck and a sedan on the N4 between the Duma Lodge and Mara intersections on Tuesday, December 3.

According to Martin Jeffrey of Emer-G-Med, the truck had collided head-on with the sedan, and the sedan’s driver was trapped inside.

“The Jaws of Life was used to free him. He was treated on the scene before he was rushed to Rob Ferreira Hospital for further medical treatment. The truck driver was unharmed. The cause of the accident is currently unknown. The police and other emergency services are on the scene,” he said.

The N4 is currently closed, and motorists are advised to use alternative routes to avoid delays. A stop-and-go is in place, however.
