The Mpumalanga Safa Ehlanzeni Region’s U20 League showcases the grassroot talent of the young players in the greater Nsikazi region and Nkomazi.

The league comprises two streams, namely Mbombela with 13 teams and Nkomazi with eight teams.

The Mbombela Stream started the league in November and already showed some potential winning teams, among which are Sinani United, Fortune Academy and the Mpumalanga School of Excellence.

Mpumalanga School of Excellence’s Thapelo Khoza.

The Nkomazi Stream began on February 15 and still has ample time to showcase their talent, skill and zeal to win the league. The stream includes football clubs such as KaMaqhekeza, 1341 Stars, Harmony, Umkhonto, Tusa, Dludluma, Sibange and Screamer IX.

The league’s co-ordinator, George Kgoale, said the league will run until June with some league cups in between. He said this is a developmental league that enhances and nurtures the young players who graduated from the U17 league. “We have seen great performance from teams in the Mbombela Stream already as they are preparing for week six’s games this Saturday, February 22. So far, Sinani United, Fortune Academy and the Mpumalanga School of Excellence remain unbeaten. The stream also features clubs such the Mataffin Hotspurs, Barberton Academy and the TS Matsulu Future A,” Kgoale said.
