KaBokweni DJ spins to success

The 22-year-old DJ from Tekatakho said he has a passion for music and wants to make it internationally.

Wandile Sithole, also known as Prince the DJ, a multi-talented entertainer, producer, promoter and event organiser, is shooting for the stars. Inspired by other successful DJs, the 22-year-old started spinning the decks in 2023, two years after completing matric.

He plays a variety of musical genres – including amapiano, sgija and sgidongo in clubs and at massive events such as the recent annual Good Friday Marquee Experience. The young entertainer aspires to be a versatile music connoisseur.

Sithole has shared various stages with well-known musicians such as Shakes & Les, MaWhoo, Reece Madlisa and Myztro. He said he is looking forward to producing tracks with DJ Biza, Success SA and Royal Musiq.

Over the last two years he has experienced his share of challenges as an up-and-coming DJ and entrepreneur. “Most event organisers and promoters do not respect upcoming artists and when we do get booked, they do not pay on time, or at all. I wish we can unite and respect one another’s hustles and time,” he said.

Playing in clubs in Mbombela and surrounds has helped him meet new people in the entertainment industry and gain exposure, leading to more promoters booking him for gigs. Sithole also said he is grateful for the love and support shown to him by his community. “I have received compliments and words of motivation from a lot of people and that keeps me going.

Receiving encouraging words and looking up to DJs who have become successful, especially from KaBokweni, I believe I also stand a chance to play on big stages and make music with famous artists in the near future,” he said.
