KaBokweni-based foundation donates uniform to local learners

With the aim to give hope to less-fortunate learners, the Zethembiso Nezethelelo Zothando Foundation (ZZZ) started an initiative of donating uniforms to local schools. The ZZZ was founded by Bp Anderson Matsane, who said they have donated to schools in the Ehlanzeni area and are planning to reach further out to more schools.

“We have managed to donate to 100 learners since we started the initiative in January. We donated to Mgcobaneni Primary School in Masoyi, Maphakama Primary School and Umpopoli Primary School in KaBokweni.”

According to Matsane, his organisation is dedicated to empowering young people through education, psycho-social support and skills development.

“I saw the hardships of children who had nothing at home, coming from an impoverished background. I was most blessed to have teachers at school who took care of me, brought me food, and ensured my emotional well-being. Because of this I decided to make a difference to those who need a helping hand,” said Matsane.

The foundation was established in 2020 during the pandemic.

“A lot of learners lost their parents and that really broke my heart. Many of them were emotionally displaced because of the pandemic,” he said.

“During that time I discovered that awareness of bullying, respect, the dangers of substance abuse, and emotional intelligence were issues that needed to be addressed.”

“We wish to host youth leadership camps so that we can conduct career expos, leadership training and to train young people who can then mentor others. This way we can fight social ills.”

Matsane added that the organisation is an example of the power of community-driven initiatives. With the co-operation of volunteers and partners, the foundation will continue to empower young minds and shape young futures.
