University of Mpumalanga investigates allegations of bullying

The university says investigations into the matter are still under way.

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) has confirmed that it is investigating allegations that a female student was bullied by two male students at an accredited private residence.

UMP spokesperson, Tlangelani Ubisi, said on Tuesday June 24 that the university will provide an update once the investigation is concluded.

“The university is attending to this issue as a matter of urgency, and we would like to assure our stakeholders of our commitment to resolve the matter as speedily as possible,” Ubisi said.

He added that the university has a zero-tolerance approach to any form of bullying.

“In line with our policies and code of conduct for students, UMP expects all students to maintain a professional, courteous and respectful approach when interacting with one another.”
