Former court clerk sentenced for corruption in KwaMhlanga

The former clerk took cash from victims under the pretext of legal costs.

A former KwaMhlanga court clerk has been sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment, suspended for five years, after pleading guilty to six corruption charges on Wednesday, August 6.

Cornelius Mametse (43) was convicted and sentenced by the KwaMhlanga Regional Court for offences committed in 2022.

According to Mpumalanga Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Magonseni Nkosi, Mametse solicited money from six victims, claiming the funds were needed for sheriff services or legal representation. Instead, he used the money for personal gain.
