KaBokweni police arrest suspect linked to stolen vehicle

Following a tip-off, a search resulted in the recovery of a white VW Polo with Gauteng registration plates, as well as ammunition for a firearm.

A 57-year-old suspect was arrested during an intelligence-driven operation that was conducted in Clau-Clau on Tuesday, August 5.

According to Captain Mpho Nonyane-Mpe, the operation was launched after information was received about a suspect allegedly in possession of a stolen vehicle.

“A search was conducted, resulting in the recovery of a white VW Polo with Gauteng registration plates, as well as ammunition for a firearm. The car was reported stolen in Linden, Gauteng, during a house robbery that took place in May 2023,” said Nonyane-Mpe.

She said the suspect was charged with possession of a suspected stolen vehicle and possession of ammunition.

The suspect appeared in the KaBokweni Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, August 6, and was granted R4 000 bail. He will appear again in the same court on
September 5.
