Acornhoek City FC’s friendly against Magesi cancelled

The visit to Polokwane has opened scouting opportunities for the local players.

Several players and staff members of Acornhoek City Football Club travelled to Polokwane in Limpopo on Saturday, August 30, as part of their interprovincial visits programme.

This publication reported on September 3 that Majita Ya Style, as Acornhoek are also known, were invited by the premier soccer league team, Magesi Football Club to play a friendly match. The game did not take place, due to unforeseen circumstances

Despite the friendly going ahead as planned, the Limpopo-based side provided a courteous welcome to the Acornhoek City entourage.

According to Acornhoek’s head coach and co-ordinator, Sipho Dzimba, the visit to Polokwane was a success and assisted to establish a long-term relationship with the elite league side.

“Unfortunately, we did not play the friendly match. When we arrived in Polokwane, the DStv Diski Challenge team had the day off, as the league is set to start in early September,” he said.

He mentioned that former Orlando Pirates player, Tlou Segolela, who is now the head coach of Magesi FC’s development team, and Patrick Mulaudzi, the club’s football manager were impressed by Acornhoek’s commitment to the development of future football professionals.

“We have established a proper relationship now, and the guys at Magesi are looking forward to scouting Acornhoek City FC players, which is great for us and the community,” he concluded.
