ANC Gert Sibande Region elects its leadership

The ANC elected its regional leadership at a recent conference.

The ANC Gert Sibande Region held its 9th Regional Conference at the Manzana Badplaas Resort on Thursday, September 25.

According to ANC Mpumalanga spokesperson Sasekani Manzini, the conference received messages of support from the National Executive Committee, delivered by the convenor of the NEC deployees to Mpumalanga, Joe Phaahla. The Provincial Executive Committee also conveyed its message through its chairperson, Mandla Ndlovu, and its secretary, Muzi Chirwa.

“All the messages emphasised the need of build a strong and united ANC, which is an effective tool for liberation. A strong and united party is a necessity for the ANC to be able to execute its historic mission of serving the people,” said Manzini.

The conference elected the following comrades into the Regional Executive Committee: Walter Mngomezulu (chairperson), Thulasizwe Thomo (deputy chairperson), Aubrey Maboea (secretary), Maqhawe Mlotshwa (deputy secretary), and Lindi Masina (treasurer).

“We wish the Regional Executive Committee all the best as they begin their new term of office, and we urge them to work tirelessly to implement the resolutions of the conference. The resolutions are mainly about organisational renewal and resolving the socio-economic challenges confronting the people of Gert Sibande,” said Manzini.

She said they concur with the newly elected regional chairperson who, in his closing remarks, called on all members to disband lobby groups and work with the leadership to make the ANC a home for all.

“The biggest winner in any ANC conference is the ANC itself, not individuals. Conferences afford the ANC an opportunity to reimagine society and sharpen itself as a tool for liberation in the hands of the people,” said Manzini.
