Police warn public about recruitment scam
The police urged the public to not fall victims to the scam.
The police have warned the public about ongoing recruitment scams. This plea was announced after individuals around the province received phone calls from fraudsters claiming to be representing the SAPS human resource management recruitment section.
On Saturday, September 20, the acting provincial commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi, sent a stern warning to the public to not fall victim to the recruitment scams.

The police said the scammers allegedly solicit money from unsuspecting members of the public in exchange for job placements within the police service.
“The SAPS reiterates that no payment is required to be considered for employment within the organisation. All SAPS recruitment processes are free and conducted through official channels. Members of the public are urged to be vigilant and to report any suspicious recruitment-related activities or false promises,” said Mkhwanazi.
The police have urged people to report such scams or any other criminal activity. Contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or use the My SAPS app. All information will be treated with the strictest confidence.
