Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies dominate Queens in KaNyamazane

Fans were treated to an exciting encounter between Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and TS Galaxy Queens at KaNyamazane Stadium on Sunday, October 5.The two teams delivered a thrilling contest, reflecting the competitive nature on the field. Sundowns showed no mercy to the local team, despite the match being played in Galaxy’s home province. Sundowns won 3-1.

In the first half, Sundowns made their dominance clear by scoring two goals. By halftime, Galaxy had yet to score, underscoring the visitors’ dominance and control on the field.

Galaxy fought back with a goal in the second half, but Sundowns quickly extended their lead, displaying unwavering resilience and a clear hunger for victory. Sundowns ensured they secured all three points. Prior to facing Galaxy, Sundowns had defeated TUT Ladies 5-1 in the Tshwane Derby.

Before this game, Sundowns midfielder Oratile Mokwena said the team’s recent form had boosted confidence but stressed that the focus remained on maintaining a solid form.

“TS Galaxy Queens are a powerful team and have shown great consistency throughout the season, so we know this is not going to be an easy game,” she said.

Mokwena added that the key to winning is sticking to the game plan and staying disciplined from start to finish.
“Away games are always tough because you are outside your comfort zone.”

Last season, Sundowns Ladies triumphed 5-3 away to Galaxy Queens, before edging the return fixture 1-0 at home. In 2023, the teams played out a 1-1 draw in KaNyamazane.
