The MEC for education, Lindi Masina, visited Mzinoni Secondary School to monitor the Grade 12 class as they were writing life sciences paper two. They achieved a remarkable 96% pass rate in the 2024 National Senior Certificate exam and aim for a 100% pass rate this year.

According to Mpumalanga Department of Education spokesperson, Gerald Sambo, four schools in the Govan Mbeki Circuit – AD Nkosi, Ikhethelo, Hoërskool Hoogenhout and Mzinoni – have received the necessary support and conducted extra classes as intervention exercises to help learners succeed in the examinations.

Sambo said the exams are progressing well and that the circuit is aiming for a 100% pass rate. He added that there have been no challenges so far, with the examinations proceeding incident-free.

“I am confident that we will reach our target in this circuit. As learners, you embarked on your education journey about 12 years ago, and I am confident that you will succeed this year. I am also pleased that you have adhered to the pledge of good conduct. I want to express my gratitude to the circuit manager, the principal, the SGB, and teachers for their hard work and dedication in preparing for the exams. I am certain that as candidates you will also give your best to pass,” said Masina.
