University of Mpumalanga showcases cutting-edge research

The University of Mpumalanga’s third Research and Innovation Day highlighted purposeful innovation, collaboration, and research.

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) vice chancellor, Prof Thenjiwe Meyiwa, recently opened the third Research and Innovation Day.

This event highlighted the institution’s forward-thinking identity. “Innovation is not a slogan at UMP; it is a core value. We innovate to discover and transform through our discoveries.

“Our research addresses real-life experiences, challenges assumptions, and explores new frontiers, whether in classrooms, laboratories, villages or via global platforms like the G20,” she said.

Meyiwa further stressed the significance of collaboration in shaping UMP’s future research direction.

“Collaboration is key to progress. Without it we risk being left behind,” she said.

“Let us innovate purposefully, discover with curiosity, and transform humanely.”
The Research and Innovation Day featured stimulating panel discussions, research exhibitions and engagements that showcased UMP’s dedication to excellence and societal impact.
